Express Entry is an online system used by the Canadian government to manage applications for permanent residence from skilled workers. It is designed to facilitate faster processing of applications and attract skilled immigrants to Canada.
To be eligible for Express Entry, applicants must meet the criteria of one of the federal immigration programs: Federal Skilled Worker Program, Federal Skilled Trades Program, or Canadian Experience Class. Factors such as age, education, work experience, and language proficiency are considered.
The application process involves creating an online profile and entering information about your skills, work experience, language ability, education, and other details. Eligible candidates are placed in a pool and ranked using the Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS). The highest-ranking candidates are invited to apply for permanent residence.
The CRS is a points-based system used to assess and score a candidate's profile. Points are awarded based on factors such as age, education, work experience, language skills, and other criteria. Candidates with the highest scores are issued Invitations to Apply (ITAs) for permanent residence.
Candidates who receive an ITA have 60 days to submit a complete application for permanent residence. The application must include supporting documents such as police certificates, medical exams, and proof of funds. Once submitted, the application is processed within six months.
